Sanctuary Roof Repairs - 2009

As spring came about in 2009 we noticed a few shingles on the ground along the south side of the church sanctuary.

Then appeared the damage on the north balcony wall where obviously water leaks were undermining the paint. (Don't touch - more paint will fall off...)

On closer inspection of the south roof:

not only do we see missing shingles but the remaining shingles are warping severely.

As for the leak on the north balcony interior wall, the source is around this chimney stack where caulking attempts have not been sufficient:

Once again, the shingles themselves have warped while bearing the weather of the past fifteen years.

After obtaining four quotes from severn requests, the Board and Executive are recommending to accept the bid of Cherry and Hoyle for $29,000 plus a potential for another $5,000 should plywood panelling be required as an underlay to the new 35-year shingles.

Looking at our reserves, the Board is looking to rasie $30,0000 or $300 per contributor to complete the job this summer and remain debt-free. All contributions in any amount are gratefully received. Thank you for your support.
